About the Louisiana State Combine Charitable Campaign (LA SCCC):
What is the LA SCCC?
In 2012, legislation was passed that allows for a single workplace campaign for state employees, where they are given the opportunity to designate their contributions to qualified health and human service non-profits of their choice with the option of payroll deduction. The Louisiana State Combined Charitable Campaign (LA SCCC) is different from past organized workplace campaigns, because every health and human service agency throughout the state is eligible to apply and be part of the campaign. Through the LA SCCC, the Louisiana Association of United Ways (LAUW) is the acting Principal Combined Fundraising Organization (PCFO) and works closely with the Office of State Uniform Payroll (OSUP) to coordinate and implement this campaign throughout Louisiana.
How does it work?
Each fall, all state employees paid through the LaGov HCM payroll system will get the opportunity to learn about the LA SCCC charities, choose which ones they want to help, and then fill out a pledge form indicating how much they wish to donate. Employees have the option to donate through the convenience of payroll deduction or make a one-time gift via cash, check, credit card, or through payroll deduction.
The 2024 campaign will run this fall starting September 3, 2024, with all pledge forms and online pledge donations due by November 7, 2024. All special event revenue will be due by December 2, 2024. Each department/agency has an appointed campaign coordinator(s) who is responsible for educating employees about the LA SCCC and giving them the opportunity to contribute.
What charities are involved?
For the 2024 campaign there are 54 health and human service charitable organizations represented through the LA SCCC, ranging from small local organizations to larger national organizations providing services to our state. These charities all applied to be a part of the LA SCCC and met all of the necessary requirements and qualifications. Annually, all health and human service non-profits within the state are eligible to apply or reapply and are reviewed and screened by the PCFO and OSUP for approval.
How are funds distributed?
Contributions made by state employees will be collected by OSUP and provided to LAUW (PCFO) for processing and distribution to the participating charitable organizations. Payments sent by LAUW to charities will occur on a quarterly schedule. Charity proceeds amount will be based on the percentage of funds designated to each charity through employee pledge form contributions, which is calculated at the closure of campaign. Each charity will then receive their percentage of all funds collected quarterly from LAUW, after all state-approved fundraising and administrative expenses are reimbursed.
